Here are a few things I have been meaning to upload:

1: Weekly Reader's READ magazine- my sister and I joined forces to create illustrations for The Last Leaf and Fielder's Choice. our work appeared in 2 issues ( Dec 2010 and Feb 2011... I think)
2: fashion illustration compilation. I did this when I was in school but it popped up recently while going through some stuff.
3: coffee shop sketch of Hannah who (a talented member of our drawing session in Peekskill)

I went to the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria the other day. I looked at the costume sketches and was like "I could totally do that!" These are all based on other people's croquis because the info at the museum said that generally the "costume sketch artist" does not do the design but rather interprets ideas from the costume designer. I think I'll do more of these... I actually have a bunch of little kid ones i did for work (from my own designs) that I never brought to a finish. Maybe they'll be next!

It has finally gotten cold enough that i had to put away the summer wardrobe and drag out my boxes of sweaters. my sister gave me a really cozy winter sweater that i would love to be able to wear but the sleeves are down to my knees(literally)! i personally love long,hand-covering sleeves but these are crazy and unmanageably long!!!

Ive been obsessed with my good old lumas! I did this as i was half asleep on the train last night but it was on the back of a page with lumas on it so they showed through and made a nice spattery base. just a doodle but im happy with her so im selling it on zazzle with the others. hope you like!

i made these 2 for work but theyre not being used so i decided to post them here. i enjoyed drawing a guy for once. Its kind of fun trying to make men look fashiony without making them look famboyant. men just dont usually have graceful lines but i think this worked out ok because of all the surfing action.

Life has been a little crazy.. in a good way! Ive been spending most of my free time doing the freelance comics and on top of my regular job im doing fit modeling for petite cothing. I've been working on this angel graphic. I was going to use it for something at work but they keep telling me that the factories wont work strictly from artwork they just replicate the original clothing sample exactly... hmmm. I have noticed in the past that when i do an original graphic for them the final sample is exactly like the clothing sample instead of the original artwork i have done. slightly anoying but what can ya do?

So anyway I decided to keep this for myelf and make a letterhead out of it. I'll probably use it on my graphic design resume or something...

I had a really log day... and yet i draw best at night so I just finished this little dude and i wanted to post it before i go to bed. Me and my sister worked on it together actually. It was for a little test thing that this guy gave me to see if im right for his freelance job. I don't know how good my chances are but Im pretty happy with it...

Ive been trying to get a graphic design portfolio together recently. The TV file is the cover of a set up manual and the other is a touristy broadway brochure like you would pick up at the tourist bureau. I also designed the opposite side of that brochure but i have a few things to add still so ill have to put it up when its all finished. Anyway, I find that its kind of hard to visualize the project as a whole without being able to print it out sometimes. This stuff is pretty boring i know but thats what ive been spending a lot of time on so i decided to post it. More fun stuff to come. check back soon!

Anyone else notice a lot of really cute, kind of retro, cupcake shops popping up all over the place? I went to a really great one called Magnolia Bakery a few weeks ago. There is also another one called suger sweet sunshine here in NY. All my friends say thier cupcakes are awesome but i have yet to try them. Anyway... I drew this girl while thinking of these retro cupcake places and I thought I would finish her up and give her a purpose so i made this layout.

so...a while ago i put up a post talking about my friend and her "page a day" calender with 365 things to be happy about. When i need some inspiration i try to think of something that makes me happy... usually its pretty random. Today its bugs! I recently learned that the woods behind my house are a really good place to watch lightning bugs. for a few weeks during this time of the year there are millions of them in the trees and bushes and they just twinkle. It was probably the most beautiful thing ive seen in years. maybe ill draw some lightning bugs next :)

I just got some luma dyes and was playing around with them just letting them bleed together and seeing what they made when i had an idea... i just did this real fast to see how it worked out but im liking it so i think ill do more like this as soon as i get the chance. Im thinking of doing illustrations with cut out shapes like this all together kind of like a collage idea. more will be up soon to make up for weeks of no posts.

For anyone who doesnt know me who might be reading this... im a twin. me and my sister, vickie, are both illustrators. sometimes we even work together and when that happens theres no stopping us... so watch out ;) its like a 2 person gang... we splatter red paint everywhere and threatan people with x-acto knives. dun dun dunnnn. it gets nasty so dont mess with us!

I did this really quick and im not totally happy with it... i used illustrator and added shadows and highlights on photoshop. im trying to use illustrator more for my tweens. I use illustrator at work and Ive gotten to be able to do things really fast in it so i figured i would give it a try with the tweens.

I did the first one for illustration friday's topic "Stitch". Its supposed to be cinderella stitching up her dress last minute before the ball.

The second post is a little bunny i drew last week when it was cold out. i was just thinking about what the bunnies, groundhogs ext. do in the winter and missing seeing them around the yard. So this bunny is visiting a friend in a cozy den. haha i donno... i have an active imagination and i like to take advantage of it and let my mind wander on weekends when I have time to doodle. ;)

I Just graduated from FIT and im hoping to get a job soon. This is just temporary until i can make a website.
I like to do children and animals and ive been focusing on tweens and tween fashion illustrations recently. Im interested in childrens books so I hope to get into that industry someday soon. enjoy! More will be up soon.
